MediaVue Systems was a startup OEM computer manufacturer. I had the opportunity to be a part of the early stages, where I handled manufacturing operations during a rapid growth period.

This project and work is a story from Branden’s professional career, not from any work provided by BGM Designs.

Company

A digital signage OEM, designing and manufacturing fanless player PCs. As one of the first few employees, I was responsible for manufacturing operations and shipping. This included the parts sourcing, assembly, packaging, and international shipping related to all aspects of computer manufacturing.

As larger orders arrived, we had to move our operations from a small garage to a manufacturing facility with offices and warehouse space.

Challenges

Operations could not stop, so moving from the garage to the facility required us to plan ongoing orders and Tests with our transition to a new building.

With new space came new people. To support the expanding operations we began building a team of assemblers and others to help with sub-assemblies and shipping.

Project

After a facility was secured, the project entailed moving and designing a new operations space which shared the floor between our warehousing, assembly, and shipping areas.

The operation also required us to build burn-in test racks on the floor to complete the full workflow of assembly, test, package and ship.

Outcomes

In the newly established facility, we successfully assembled and shipped over 3,000 computers within the very first year of operation. Throughout this period, only a few minor adjustments to the original design and layout of the operations floor were necessary to effectively support ongoing scaling and increased production demands.
